My warmest greetings to every Barotacnon, visitor, partner, and friend of our beloved municipality. This official digital portal is created to bring the local government closer to the people by providing easier access to public services, updates, tourism information, development programs, and opportunities for participation.
Barotac Nuevo is a municipality of culture, resilience, agriculture, sportsmanship, and community pride. Through this platform, we aim to promote transparent governance, responsive public service, and a stronger connection between the municipal government and our citizens.
Barotac Nuevo traces its beginnings to the old settlement of Malutac/Ginhawa-an, once connected with Dumangas. Local accounts link the town’s rise to Don Simon Protacio and the famous white horse Tamasak, a story that became part of the town’s identity.
The Saint Anthony of Padua Parish Church is one of the municipality’s most important heritage landmarks. Historical references note early Spanish missionary activity, the parish tradition, and the present church completed in the early 1900s.
Today, Barotac Nuevo is known for agriculture, fisheries, community life, and sports. It is widely recognized as the Football Capital of the Philippines, with local pride built around discipline, teamwork, and public service.
Historical references identify Barotac Nuevo as an old settlement whose parish roots date back to the Spanish period, with religious life centered around Saint Anthony of Padua.
The name “Barotac” is commonly linked to mud — from Spanish “baro” and Hiligaynon “lutac” — while “Nuevo” means new, distinguishing it from Barotac Viejo.
The municipality developed around farming, fisheries, barangay life, faith traditions, and a strong football culture that continues to shape its public image and community pride.
